A Kaoss Pad Modification by Eren

    Hi , I'm Eren from Turkey ,

When I first saw matt bellamy's guitar mod I was very interested. So I decided to try one.I must say that Phil's work was just like a book.It was very useful thanks to Phil I 've made it.But it was a hard work becouse I've applied some different ideas from Phil's instead of using it as a floorboard unit I've decided to put all Kaoss Pad on my guitar.I thought that changing between patches and changing effects during the gig will be hard as using the unit as a floorboard pedal. If I'm not wrong Phil is using it that way.At that point a very talented friend of mine who is an Electrical Engineer helped me.We've made the guitar opening cuttings (wood works) with laser operating. So thats why we had no problem tu install the mainboard and tha pad on the guitar because we measured all the sizes of every part. After that we carry the patches to save from back of the mainboard to the front of the guitar under the pad you can see it from the pictures the black buttons. There are three patch buttons and one hold button there. The navigation knob of the kaoss pad has also been carried to front of the guitar. As you can see there is 2 knob on front one is volume for two pickups and the other is navigation knob.We bought 5 coloured led for the pad leds. The onboard led of Kaoss pad is also 5 coloured. The led we installed works as same as the on board leds. There is a problem occured there which is ; if I use navigation knob on stage I cant see which patch number I've reached so thats why we carried the saving buttons on front of the guitar.I save the 3 patches I want before I go on stage so when I go on stage no problem.Other DJ like effects are up to you If you are high ride on :).We had another problem which is powering problem.First idea was to use batteries but it was hard to find 12V rechargable batteries which must power for 3 hours. So we thought to use it with an 12V adapter becouse the leds are using almost 3.5V when you touch the pad.The batteries were not going to work. You will see the adapter input on the back of the guitar. To lock the input of adapter we decided to change the cableing we used an audio cable for power male-female type.A few times the adapter disconnected as I move on the stage so thats why we changed cableing.

Thats all I can tell for now.If you have further questions I will answer as possible as I can.Thank you...
